A new dawn
This blog emerges from hope. Hope that enough of us are able to influence the course of Earth in the coming decades to avoid us all cooking up as a species. Or maybe we'll cook up the other species and a few of us will remain. Any scenario doesn't appeal to me.
Ever since I've been a young girl, growing up in the depth of rural France, I've cared about 'nature'. My neighbour buddy 'Ben' and me set up a 'Club Nature'; that was in the late 80s. What did we do? I'm sure we had an 8 year old version of a 'mission statement'. I can't remember what that was. But basically, we walked about in the forest, in the fields, surrounding our little hamlet, and... cleaned up trash.
A few disclaimers.
I'm a 'Westerner' or perhaps more precisely: a European. We have our fair share of responsibility in the CO2 levels currently attained.
I am not a zero waste Earthling. I admire those who manage to be. I am trying to become one but have too many societal habits engrained that I struggle to depart from: supermarket shopping being one, with its flurry of packaging.
We have a child, my husband and I work full time jobs. I haven't yet found the energy to produce my home made cleaning products.
I love tech. I'm an aerospace engineer, I work to help produce a software that runs on computers, duh, I cannot go off electricity. I love how technology has empowered our species to achieve prowesses such as landing on the Moon, or shooting a probe to the sun. I am not a die-hard-eco-warrier, off the grid, off the internet, in a self-sustainable bubble.
My English is not the best. Hopefully that's not going to put you off.
